melissaMelissa moved to the Big Island of Hawaii in 2002 after receiving her B.A. from Oberlin College in Ohio. After a few years in social work, she decided to pursue massage therapy and attended the Big Island Academy of Massage. After completing her apprenticeship at Island Therapeutic Massage and receiving her massage license in 2005, she worked at a number of massage establishments including Kalani Honua in Puna, Mauna Kea Resort and Kona Day Spa, Olena’s in Hilo and Kulaniapia Bed and Breakfast. She finally arrived at Banyan Massage where she teamed up with Anne in 2008 to establish a thriving massage practice.

Melissa considers herself an on-going student and, as such, continuously seeks to deepen her massage practice. She offers a wide-range of modalities including Deep Tissue, Lomi Lomi, Hawaiian Hot Stones Massage (Pohaku Wela), Pre-Natal Massage, Cranial Sacral and Myofascial Release. Melissa has also received her Level I in Reiki. Though she has experience in the spa industry, her passion is therapeutic massage and assisting people in improving the quality of their lives. Melissa strongly believes in having an unconditional regard for her clients and seeks to support them by drawing from her deep well of knowledge and compassion. Every session is unique and based on an individual’s particular and distinct needs. Melissa feels tremendously grateful to have found a professional path that is as rewarding as massage therapy and to be a part of the phenomenal team of therapists at Banyan Massage.

Anne Nuttall, MAT #8073

Anne

Anne moved to the Big Island of Hawaii in 2003 after completing massage therapy training at Healing Spirits in Boulder, Colorado. She completed Hawaiian Lomi Lomi training at Aunty Margaret Machados’ in South Kona in 2004 and became a Licensed Massage Therapist in Hawaii shortly thereafter. She continued her education and was employed at the Hawaiian Islands School of Massage in Kona where she studied Medical Massage, Hawaiian Hot Stones Massage (Pohaku Wela) and Thai Massage. She also worked as an administrator, student counselor and massage clinic manager. In 2008, Anne joined Melissa as Co-Owner of Banyan Massage. Together they have grown the business into a well respected and thriving massage practice that serves both Hawaii locals and visitors alike.

In 2018, Anne discovered a truly unique and highly therapeutic massage modality called Ashiatsu, in which the therapist’s feet, body weight and gravity are utilized to apply broad deep pressure. She completed foundational and advanced training courses in ‘Deepfeet Bar Therapy’ Ashiatsu in Portland, Oregon and is now a certified practitioner of this modality.

Anne is skilled and experienced in many modalities though these days her passion and specialty is in Ashiatsu. She also offers therapeutic massage and incorporates Swedish Massage, Lomi Lomi and Hot Stones, as well as deep therapeutics such as Myofascial Release, Acupressure, Trigger Point Therapy and Joint Mobilization. Anne also performs specific pain and injury treatment massage and works with clients who seek acute injury rehabilitation as well as chronic pain management. Her sessions are always curated and customized to each individual’s specific needs and she takes great care in providing a personalized experience for every client. She has a kind and nurturing presence and an open heart. With a deep passion for massage and bodywork Anne feels very fortunate to be a professional in the field and to be an integral part of the team at Banyan Massage.



Andrea Henke, MAT# 7155

After finding relief from medical challenges at age 15 with a holistic chiropractor, Andrea knew she wanted to pursue a career in holistic health and wellness to help others. At age 19 she attended The Boulder College of Massage Therapy and graduated in 2000. She moved to Maui and received her massage therapy license in 2003. She is also licensed in Colorado and Texas. Andrea uses massage therapy as a modality to help restore health, balance, and homeostasis by assisting the body to return to its natural state of health and well-being of body, mind, and spirit. Andrea specializes in an integrative massage approach, integrating and utilizing Lomi Lomi, Shiatsu, Swedish, Lymphatic Drainage, Cupping Therapy, CranioSacral Therapy, Prenatal, Trigger Point and Deep Tissue techniques and stretches in her massage sessions.  After taking Energy Medicine in massage school, she also has learned various energy healing techniques, such as Reiki, Polarity Therapy, ARCH healing, and chakra balancing. Andrea integrates a personalized approach to each and every session. She is currently learning Thai massage and Ashiatsu as a continual student of bodywork and healing.

 

Candice Davis, LMT #17192

Candice studied massage therapy in San Luis Obispo and Thousand Oaks, California during 2018 and 2019. Her foundation is in Swedish Massage for pain management, while also being trained in Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Reflexology, Aroma Touch, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Acupressure. Candice then worked as an aide in a busy physical therapy clinic helping patients reach their mobility goals through movement, exercise, and other modalities. In October of 2020 that she made her way to the Big Island of Hawaii to work in another busy physical therapy/pain management clinic in Kailua-Kona. She gained a deeper understanding of what patients go through when recovering from surgery and when dealing with chronic pain. Her experience working with pain management patients in clinics inspired her to further study complimentary styles of massage for medical purposes. Candice intends to dive deeper into studying Manual Lymphatic Drainage and many other modalities as she considers herself a lifelong learner. Her goal with every massage is to invite subtle transformation in the body with intention to help ease chronic pain, reduce stress and increase relaxation to assist in the body’s natural healing process. She looks forward to helping all people along their journey in holistic self care and is very grateful to be a part of the team at Banyan Massage Hale.

Jarica Barr, MAT# 10249

Jarica came to bodywork while searching on her own healing path. She feels that massage therapy is how she can help care for humanity. Jarica began her studies as a massage therapist at the Heartwood Institute in Northern California. As a Holistic Healthcare Practitioner, she graduated in 2005; receiving training in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Polarity Therapy, Cranial Sacral techniques, Myofascial Release, Shiatsu and Hot Stones. She continued her studies with Ayurvedic bodywork therapies, and Chinese Medicine. In 2018 Jarica received her masters of Acupuncture at the World Medicine Institute on Oahu. She studied acupuncture, herbs, and qi gong with Taoist master Dr. Chang, who established the Tai Hsuan foundation on Oahu. Jarica is a Licensed Acupuncturist in Hawaii and enjoys serving the community of all ages. Jarica offers massage and acupuncture at Banyan Massage Hale, and often combines the two. Jarica also has a passion for classical Yoga, breath, and awareness practices and brings mindfulness to each session.

 

 

Candice Lanette, MAT# 14917

Candice moved from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the Big Island of Hawaii in 2015. She immediately began her studies in massage therapy at Kalani Honua, received her license in 2016 and has been practicing massage therapy full-time ever since. Candice has a deep appreciation for the healing potential that is found in receiving bodywork. She specializes in a mixture of Deep Tissue, Trigger Point therapy, Myofacial Release and Cranial Sacral massage. With Candice, no two massages are ever the same as she utilizes her intuition to listen the body and allows the body to guide her to where attention is needed. Her intention with every session is to be present, receptive and open for the client to receive as much relaxation and healing as possible. Outside of providing massage,  she enjoys dancing, singing, hiking and connecting deeply and authentically with the people in her life.

Ann Marie Lofgreen, MAT# 9197

Ann Marie has been a practitioner of Massage Therapy since 2000. She graduated from South West Institute Of Healing Arts in 1999 in Scottsdale, AZ. Ann Marie moved to the Big Island of Hawaii in 2005 where she completed continuing education at Big Island Academy Of Massage. She has a diverse and complimentary style of massage that incorporates many modalities including Deep Tissue, Lomi Lomi, Acupressure, Cranial Sacral, Reflexology, Myofascial Release, Prenatal, Infant massage and more. Over the course of her career she has worked in spas, salons, pain clinics, Chiropractor offices, retreats, events and in homes. Ann Marie loves learning and strives to continuously improve and fine tune her techniques. With her wealth of skill and experience she tailors every massage session to the specific needs and goals of each individual.
